Dr. Monica K. Hurdal

Divemaster

Dr. Monica K. Hurdal is a professor of mathematics and Associate Chair for Academic Affairs in the Department of Mathematics at Florida State University. Her research uses mathematical modeling to investigate how the human brain changes during development, aging and disease.

Originally from Canada, she lived in Australia for many years where she completed her graduate studies and learned how to SCUBA dive. Monica is a Girl Scout leader, loves to travel with her family, and has dived all over the world. She earned her prestigious Scuba Educators International divemaster certification in 2025 from Dr. Gabrielle K. Gabrielli.
